Frontline Voices #2: Predicting risk and protecting lives in Pakistan

In Dadu and Larkana, Pakistan, temperatures regularly climb above 50°C (122°F) between May and July. This level of heat can be life‑threatening. 

Together with Start Network, local organisations are taking steps to help their communities prepare and stay safe before extreme heat hits.

Howden Foundation supports two of Start Network’s programmes: Start Ready, which works with communities at risk of climate-related disasters to co-create emergency assistance plans, and to fund the roll out of these plans once a pre-agreed crisis threshold has been met. And Start Fund, which delivers humanitarian aid within 72 hours of a crisis alert.
