Frontline Voices #3: Heat, hope, and her resilience in India
Through our partnership with HERA (formerly Climate Resilience for All), in association with the Self‑Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), women across India are gaining greater security and agency through early warning systems, direct cash assistance, and parametric insurance.
Where extreme heat once meant losing vital income, women can now protect their earnings without jeopardising their health. And where they once relied on borrowing simply to get by, many are now able to plan ahead and build financial stability.
Hear directly from the women driving these changes:
HERA is a women-led NGO dedicated to protecting the health, income, and dignity of women on the frontlines of extreme heat.
Howden Foundation supports HERA’s work in India through their ‘Women’s Climate Shock Insurance and Livelihood Initiative’ (WCSI), which provides financial and non-financial support for self-employed women when it becomes too hot and dangerous to work.
